Leaving On a Jet Plane-קום התהלך בארץ

Imagine taking your class on a virtual visit to Israel- no need to imagine, the plane is already waiting for you on the runway!

בעקבות אבותינו

For students who have completed at least through  פרשת וישב

Our אבות ואמהות lived in ארץ ישראל and the very same places where they lived are still very much around today! Let’s travel to באר שבע, חברון, שכם and get a sense of where our אבות ואמהות lived  and what these places are like today!

יהושע ביריחו

We will visit (virtually -of course) the place where the Jews crossed the ירדן and then make our way to יריחו. We will figure out why this was the first city that בני ישראל conquered and where the מרגלים might have hidden out after their espionage mission was complete. We will find out who has lived in יריחו over the last 3000 years, and who lives there now.

דבורה בהר תבור

The places mentioned in the story of דבורה וברק are very real places in Israel today. We will pay a virtual visit and learn how the area helps us understand the story in ספר שופטים a bit better, and what the area is like today.

“WE LOVE ISRAEL”-BUT WHY??

Israel is such an integral part of the contemporary Jewish experience and in this session we will help the students discover why it is so important to love our homeland.


MIDDLE SCHOOL

שילה

The משכן resides in the city of שילה for 369 years, yet little is known about the reasons why it was chosen and why it was later abandoned. We will go to שילה and try to uncover some of the mysteries.

מלחמות הפלשתים

For the entire length of 'שמואל א' ושמואל ב the Jewish people seem to be at war with the פלשתים. Who is this nation? How did they get here? And what did they really want? By visiting some archaeological sites we might be able to better answer these questions

יבנה המקדש

We eagerly await the rebuilding of the 3rd בית המקדש but in the meantime let’s get acquainted to with the some information about the first two בתי מקדש. We will explore why ירושלים was chosen as the location for the מקדש and what עלייה לרגל might have felt like. We will visit  דרך האבות-the road believed to be the travel route from the south to the מקדש and pay a virtual visit to the הר הבית and try to understand the current status of our most sacred location.

The Jewish soul has refused to forget about the city of ירושלים despite thousands of years in exile. We will learn about some interesting הלכות ומנהגים associated with remembering ירושלים as well as revisit the events of 1948 when Jews were once again forced to leave our beloved city.

The short answer to the above is-YES! Learn how תרומות\מעשרות\שמיטה are observed today, as well as what happened to לקט, שכחה, ופאה?

A Visit to the Zomet Museum in Alon Shvut

How do the metal detectors at the Kotel work on Shabbat? How are hospitals in Israel outfitted to accommodate Shabbat observance?

Zomet has spearheaded the use of technology to enable Israeli society to keep Shabbat at the highest standard. In this virtual visit to the Zomet exhibit, you will learn of their latest inventions and how they they enhance שמירת שבת.

(4-6 sessions) || Ideal for 8th Grade

We educate our children to love Israel and be “Zionistic” but do they know why? We will go back to sources in תנ"ך\גמרא\ראשונים and learn why it is imperative that we actively support the modern State of Israel. We will learn some of the thinking of the Rabbanim who supported the early Zionists including Rav Kalisher, Rav Reines, and Rav Kook as well as study the different streams of political Zionism which still impact Israel today.

Modern History of Israel-1917-2017

(4-6 sessions) || Ideal for 8th Grade

The last 100 years have brought about such profound change in a way that the Jewish people have not experienced since Biblical times. Starting with the Balfour Declaration in 1917 until the present, Israel has emerged as a beacon of light unto the Jewish people in particular and the world as a whole. In this series we will learn about the major events that transpired over the last century and understand how those events shape the world that we live in today.

The Six Day War-נס גדול היה פה

The events of 1967 were no less then miraculous. In this session we will examine the causes for the war, the failed attempts to find a diplomatic solution and finally the actual events of those momentous six days in June.

Understanding the Arab-Israeli Conflict

What exactly is the conflict about and why is it so hard to resolve? In this session we will try to understand the positions of both sides and what peace might actually look like.

The Streets Tell Our Story

The names of the streets in Jerusalem are hardly random. Each street tells a story of a person or group who contributed to the building of our people. We will walk the streets and learn about some of the personalities and events that are memorialized.
